2003 chevy impala flashing check engine light?

i just changed the plugs and wires on 2003 chevy impala and now my check engine light is constantly flashing & the car running very rough. the exhaust is now loud and you can hear a slight ticking/tapping noise. when its idling it acts like it wants to cut off. can anyone tell me what may be wrong??
